ACHRH in India Chapter will host a workshop in Lucknow India in Partnership with MB Pasi Government P.G. College around gender sensitization, gender roles and primary prevention of family violence.

ACHRH in Australia is engaged in conducting action research with South Asian communities, including Indian migrants. The findings are published as academic papers. We have found that there is a strong continuity of culture between in Indian migrant homes after they migrate to Australia. This gives us opportunity to use the community strengths and also understand the issues at grass roots level. We have designed workshops that raise gender awareness and gender equity based on our research. One such workshop is HOPE. The HOPE workshops use videos as a resource. The videos were produced with the help of the broader South Asian-Australian community including the Australian-Indian community members. HOPE workshops provide the participants with workbooks so that they can lead future workshops.

The connection between ACHRH and the Lucknow based MBP Government College started almost 3 years ago. Dr. Shweta Mishra an academic from their Department of English connected with ACHRH due to her deep interest in gender related issues having completed her PHD in the experiences of threats and violence women face globally including India. Dr Shweta since then has written regularly for ACHRH newsletter.

As her body of work is concentrated on women issues and gender discrimination there is a natural connection with the purpose of our organization.
Dr. Shweta Mishra is the ACHRH Brand Ambassador based in Lucknow. She has helped to arrange the HOPE workshops for students -both males and females at the MBP Government PG College in Lucknow. Two workshops are arranged for 9 and 10 January 2020.

The aims is to create awareness especially in youth around gender sensitization, gender based roles that we tend to follow unconsciously , leading to gender inequality and unequal power between the sexes and societal bias in favour of boys and men . That sets up the environment for violence against women in broader society such as rapes and within the home such as domestic abuse, violence. HOPE worships raise awareness and provide techniques towards bystander approaches to take appropriate action to stop the .
